The jury and alternates have been selected in the trial of accused sex-offender evangelist Tony Alamo and opening statements were made today.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Fowlkes said that “Alamo preyed on his loyal followers’ young daughters, once taking a girl as young as 8 as his bride and repeatedly sexually assaulting her.”

According to a release by MSNBC, “A woman whose parents and grandparents followed evangelist Tony Alamo testified at his sex-crime trial Wednesday that “Papa Tony” had so many partners that he scheduled how often he would have sex with them.”

Latest Trial Update:  MSNBC reports on one witness’s testimony–”The Texas woman said that Alamo ran her husband out of the church and took her as another of his brides. She told jurors that, while sexually assaulting her the night of their marriage, Alamo screamed out: ‘The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ is against you, Satan.’ She was 17 then, Alamo was age 59.”
